Registration for this years Cape Cod Bay Challenge will close July 17th  If you are an experienced paddler there is just enough time to get some additional training in for August 14th!  If you aren't an already experienced paddler you may want to consider getting ready for next year and you can still join us for the end of summer cruise. We will still consider registrations after the closing date on a case by case basis from paddlers that have previous successful endurance events experience  Crossing paddlers will need to submit a $75.00 registration fee and commit to raising a minimum of $500.00.  Last year's average fundraising per paddler was $1,550 and we are hoping to top that this year.  This year's event is shaping up to be the best yet with great before and after parties, associated races, and some great raffle/auction items.  If you think you have what it takes to be successful for the kids. Click the button to download the 2010 application form.

We invite everyone who joins us this year to participate in the paddlers' website as a way of sharing info, photos and video, planning group training paddles,  keeping individual training diaries, and more.  To join the paddlers' website go to http://capecodbaychallenge.ning.com/
The website isn't just for our paddlers though -- invite your friends and donors to join us online as we prepare for the event.

Please be sure you understand that the CCBC is not a race.  It's all about everyone making it, working as a group toward a common goal so that everyone can feel a great sense of accomplishment.  We see it as a metaphor for the kids we are trying to help...hoping they all cross the finish line.

To that end, we ask all paddlers to train hard and to really understand what kind of pace they can maintain for 30 miles.  Long runs in the weeks and months leading up to the event are critical and ideally you should do at least one 20- mile paddle by August 1, 2010.  Take the opportunity to time yourself so you understand what your individual comfortable pace is.

We will have staggered starts this year.  A slower pace group will leave Plymouth at 5:30 am with two more groups following at 1 hour intervals.  The three groups will meet up off Race Point for a final paddle into Provincetown Harbor together.  Don't worry about being in the slow group...I'll probably be there myself this year and each group will have veterans of past paddles in them.  Remember...it's not a race...we are out to have fun and raise funds for a great cause.

A few safety issues...personal flotation devices (PFD's) are a must for the crossing. You don't need to necessarily wear one but you must have one on your board.  We also require paddlers to carry a hydration pack. Hydration before and during the event is especially important if like last year we have a hot day. Owater...our official hydration sponsor will be providing plenty of healthy drink for both before and during the crossing...and of course we'll have plenty of Wachusett Ryde for post event hydration...:)
